Lamplighters of Southern California
Lamplighters began over fifty years ago, so that alumnae in Southern California could continue with Delta Zeta’s national philanthropy, which is assistance to the speech and hearing impaired. Lamplighters is composed of members from Southern California Delta Zeta Sorority Alumnae Chapters who have come together to continue in philanthropic service.
Each year, Lamplighters hosts a "Flame Fantasy" event. Over the years Flame Fantasy has been a fashion show, a day at the Santa Anita Race Track, luncheons and much more. Proceeds of this event are donated to the House Ear Institute (HEI) in Los Angeles. HEI is one of the world’s foremost research, teaching and treatment centers in the field of hearing.
Lamplighters also raises money for Southern California Collegiate Scholarships. All undergraduate women from the six Southern California Collegiate Chapters of Delta Zeta may apply. The current chapters are: Delta Alpha (CSU Long Beach); Theta Rho (CSU Los Angeles); Iota Upsilon (CSU Fullerton); Xi Omicron (Loyola Marymount Univ.); Pi Gamma (CSU Northridge); and Gamma Omicron (CSU San Diego).
Currently, Lamplighters has representatives from alumnae chapters in Long Beach, Orange County, Pasadena-Foothill, San Fernando Valley, South Bay, and Westchester.
